A fun introduction to fine art
The Baltimore Museum of Art had recently renovated its African Art and American Art galleries. To accompany their opening, Ashton created kid-friendly guides to help curious young minds better understand what they were looking at. The pamphlets, made for children ages 6-9, encourage in-gallery engagement and help solidify learning with at-home activities.
Annotated works of art help what’s on the wall come to life for younger viewers. Custom-drawn typography gives it an age-appropriate feel, while fun facts and activities help kids make personal connections to the paintings’ subjects.
In the African Art guide, bright colors and a collage-style layout complement the artwork without tipping into themed clichés.
