Our Bodies at the Konya Science Center 

Interactive graphics for STEM education

The Konya Science Center is Turkey’s first interactive and bilingual institution for STEM education. Before opening, one of the Center’s permanent exhibits, Our Bodies, sounded great on paper but needed to be made “real.” Ashton took the exhibit framework and introduced graphics, illustrations, and interactive stations to immerse guests in a stunning, educational experience.

Our Bodies houses five different zones, spans 5,000 square feet, and contains over 30 tactile and digital interactive stations. Each element teaches visitors about the body’s various systems through hands-on activities.

We worked with the exhibit fabricator to prototype every interactive element and align the visitor experience with educational goals. While the content was thoughtfully chosen to appeal to children as young as 4-12 years old, we designed each station to pique the interest of visitors of all ages.

We worked with a medical educator and a Turkish translator to ensure all graphics were age-appropriate and anatomically accurate. Stylized illustrations, plus a corresponding bilingual visual system, help visitors more easily understand what they’re looking at.

When the exhibit was ready to debut, we worked directly with the client and fabricator to ensure that every concept was properly brought to life. Today, Our Bodies welcomes over half a million visitors per year.
