Merriweather District
Transforming a property into an experience
Merriweather District is the exciting, multi-purpose complement to the famed Merriweather Post Pavilion, consistently ranked one of the best outdoor amphitheaters in the country. Ashton designed and implemented all wayfinding and signage for this 68-acre experiential expanse. Our guiding principle? Grow Boldly, the district’s rallying cry.
Signature to Merriweather is its bright color palette. We produced key signage elements in neon yellow, so they could serve as bold examples of form and function.
The district’s identity signs take on an iconic status when produced at life-size scale. Using rectangular windows to mimic the logo’s expandable and collapsable center allows visitors to enjoy a dynamic, shape-shifting experience as they walk by.
The tonal, horizontal entrance identity sign plays with light and vertical slats to create depth and texture. The seamless letterforms glow at dusk.
Pedestrian signs also make use of perspective-shifting cutouts. Their high-contrast design makes them easy to read and spot across the district.
