The Merriweather District is a vibrant live/work/play community on 68 acres in Columbia, Maryland. Adjacent to Merriweather Post Pavilion, the project includes over 750 residential units, approximately 1.2 million sq ft of office and 185,000 sq ft of retail shops and restaurants.
Ashton Design was enlisted to conceptualize, develop and implement the wayfinding and signage for the district. The objective was to keep the signage very brand-oriented. The resulting designs reflect the strong Merriweather brand through bold, sculptural iconic signage that gives the district its distinct feel.
The “Perspective” sign concept was inspired by the “window” portion of the Merriweather logo.
We wanted to replicate the dynamic morphing of the logo window in the way that would conceal and then reveal the natural environs as you traveled past each sign element.
