MICA Founders Green
Celebrating legacy in student spaces
Founders Green is a five-building residential complex at Maryland Institute College of Art designed for art and design students, combining apartment-style housing, studios, and shared amenities for nearly 600 residents.
Ashton developed a cohesive system of graphics and wayfinding that connects the complex to the broader MICA campus while celebrating the legacy of its namesakes.
The logo is integrated into the glass façade and canopy, spanning the threshold to create a bold graphic experience. Revealed through transparency and layering, it activates the space and becomes part of the building itself.
Building identification signage, interpretive metal plaques, and oversized fabric portraits in stairwells honor pivotal figures in MICA’s history.
