Nature Walk

Ladew Topiary Gardens, 2017

The Nature Walk at the Ladew Topiary Gardens contrasts the cultivated, formal gardens for which the northern Maryland attraction is famous. The 1 mile-long Nature Walk loops through a former horse pasture and steeplechase course, reclaimed by nature after decades of inactivity. We created a series of interpretive graphics that educate visitors about the trail’s various habitats, as well as the plants, insects, and animals that reside in each. Plant shadows printed in the background of the signs mimic the real-life light and shadow patterns that paint the paths of this natural landscape.
