The St. Paul’s Schools
The St. Paul's Schools, 2020
At The St. Paul’s Schools, three independent educational institutions share one beautiful 120-acre campus in Baltimore County, Maryland. That means students from pre-k all the way up to 12th grade make full use of the grounds, and visitors are frequent.
Therefore, St. Paul’s asked Ashton to create a comprehensive signage and wayfinding system that would help all community members easily navigate the campus while still honoring each individual institution’s rich legacy.

Ashton designed a unified, color-coded identity system for the three schools that is strategically woven throughout all signage to guide school visitors and attendees around campus.

New freestanding directionals are anchored by rot resistant cedar posts that match the campus’s rolling hills and park-like aesthetic. Vinyl text allows content to be easily updated, if needed.

Ashton worked with the schools to reimagine sign locations and destination nomenclature across campus to make navigation as intuitive as possible for faculty, staff, students, and visitors alike—a critical part of the design process.
Ashton also built a master campus map and school-specific maps for use across the property and online. Each reinforces the color-coded system.

Site design also included developing new athletic signage for the campus, including field ID signs, dimensional lettering and field supergraphics.
